This is a big one for us entrepreneurs. Promotions and Marketing, which one is the best option for your business or your clients? Let me assist by breaking down the two service types. By the end of this read, you will be that much closer to understanding your position in business and which service works for best for you or your clients.
Let's start with Promotions. Simply put, Promotions gets the word out. Ideas of Promotions are, Advertising, Interviewing, Sharing Announcements like, Events, Grand Openings, Album Releases and the one form of Promotion we most love, word of mouth. Like the saying, "All promotion is good promotion", this just means, when the people are talking they are doing a service for you. The thing to remember here is that Promotions does not come with product sells but instead it offers a means of communication to consumers who benefit from your product or service.. Promotions is actually a Piece of Marketing.
Example: Consumer hears a radio ad about the launch of your new album and the release date.
Now With Marketing it gets a tad bit deeper. Not only are you getting the word out (advertising) there are other tasks, i.e. product placement involved as well when marketing for your business or client. The goal here is that the campaign design leads to consumer purchase and directly results to financial gain for your business or your client and allows your consumer to not only hear about the product but have access to purchase at the same time.
Example: Consumer speaks with a brand ambassador who allows sampling of your product on site.
With both promotions or marketing you will want to always know the Who, What and Why.
what the product or service is,
who your target audience is
why is your service beneficial to your consumer
