Jared from Subway: Catching A Monster has people split
The new documentary on ID, "Jared from Subway: Catching A Monster" has people split down the middle on whether or not the documentary shows Jared Fogle, previous Subway Spokesperson, as a monster or someone who was manipulated and set up in an effort for a Reporter turned informant, to have the opportunity to Go Viral or get her Big Break in the news/ media industry.
After initially illegally recording Jared and turning him in to the FBI, journalist, Rochelle Herman, made strong efforts to have Jared locked up as she felt he was a predator to kids. Unfortunately, because she did not act in a lawful manner, she had to team up with the FBI in an attempt to bring down the Subway star.
Now although, Herman states several times that she turned Jared in due to her morals, I could not help but wonder why her morals did not think to offer help. She literally had to pretend that she also had an attraction to kids in order to get him to discuss these emotions. Even as far as to set up a false birthday party for her son and invite Jared out hoping he would try something with one of the children there. Before you ask, Yes, This Seriously happened. So although she may have thought that he was moraly wrong, it is hard to believe that all of her actions were behind her morals, because nothing about this situation on Jared or Rochelle side was morally right.
Jared eventually was sentenced to 15 years & 8 months in jail. I must say, watching the show on Jared Fogle, actually saddened me a tad bit. Do let me start by saying none of the actions or feelings for children do I agree with nor support. Children are totally OFF Limits right? Including with this post. I want to 100% focus on the person to explain what I am saying.
Some things we should look at is:
- Jared Stopped living around middle school. According to the doc, once he began to gain weight, he hid in a shell and food became his friend. So the last connection to women was around middle school age.
- Jared, had No friends UNTIL becoming Jared of Subway.
- Jared was Easily Influenced
- Jared was Ecstatic about the new found fame and finally becoming accepted by everyone.
- Again... Jared was easily influenced.
The question is, did Jared believe his actions was ok? You know the saying, "Birds of a Feather, Flock together"? Did Jared believe he was among a flock of birds like himself with pervish feelings and it was ok to express them? You have to go stream the documentary and come up with your own conclusion on this one.
The entire story is very saddening and I do hope while behind bars, there is actual Help that is given to Jared so that he can deal with the feelings of attraction to children.
